Frequently Asked Questions

GETTING STARTED

How do I book my first session?

We make getting started simple! First, book a free clarity session through our contact page. During this 15-20 minute call, we'll discuss your needs, answer your questions, and help match you with the right therapist on our team. If it feels like a good fit, we'll schedule your first full session from there.

Do you offer a free consultation?

Yes! We offer a free clarity session to all new clients. This gives you a chance to ask questions, learn about our approach, and see if we're the right fit for your healing journey—all with no obligation or cost.

What should I expect in my first therapy session?

Your first session is all about getting to know you. Your therapist will ask about what brings you to therapy, your history, current challenges, and what you hope to achieve. We'll also explain our holistic approach and discuss which modalities (like EMDR, somatic therapy, or art therapy) might be most beneficial for you. This is a collaborative process—you're in control of your healing journey.

How long does therapy typically take?

This varies for each person and depends on your goals. Some clients find significant relief in a few months, while others prefer ongoing support for deeper transformation. We use cutting-edge, trauma-informed techniques designed to accelerate your healing process, so you don't waste time or energy. We'll regularly check in about your progress and adjust as needed.

Is everything I share confidential?

Yes, confidentiality is fundamental to therapy. What you share stays between you and your therapist, with very limited exceptions required by law (such as if there's risk of harm to yourself or others). We take your privacy seriously and will discuss confidentiality in detail during your first session.

INSURANCE & PAYMENT

What insurance do you accept?

We currently accept:

  • Medicaid (CO Access and CCHA)

  • Aetna

  • United Healthcare

  • Medicare

We're a virtual-only practice serving residents throughout Colorado.

What if my insurance isn't listed?

If we don't accept your insurance, we can provide you with a superbill (detailed receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Many insurance plans offer out-of-network benefits. We're also happy to discuss self-pay options and payment plans to make therapy accessible.

Do you offer sliding scale fees?

Yes we do! For self-pay clients, please contact us to discuss your situation. We're committed to making holistic healing available to the people of Colorado.

How much does therapy cost without insurance?

Session fees vary by therapist and modality. Most therapists average about $150 per session for out of network sessions in the Denver area as do our therapists. Please contact us for specific pricing information. We believe in transparency and will clearly discuss all costs before you begin therapy.

OUR SERVICES & APPROACH

What makes your approach different from traditional talk therapy?

We specialize in cutting-edge, alternative, trauma and attachment informed techniques that go beyond insight into tangible, lasting change. While traditional talk therapy focuses on discussing problems, we use powerful modalities like EMDR, somatic therapy, art therapy, and inner child healing to process trauma at the body and nervous system level. This creates deeper, faster transformation.

What is EMDR and how does it work?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a research-backed therapy that helps your brain process traumatic memories and experiences. Using bilateral stimulation (like eye movements), EMDR allows your brain to reprocess difficult memories so they no longer trigger intense emotional reactions. It's highly effective for trauma, anxiety, and attachment issues. We offer this regularly as a teletherapy (virtual) service.

What is somatic therapy?

Somatic therapy recognizes that trauma and emotion are stored in the body, not just the mind. This approach uses body awareness, breathwork, and movement to release stored tension and trauma. You'll learn to listen to your body's signals and develop a healthier relationship with physical sensations and emotions.

Do I need to have experienced trauma to benefit from your services?

Not at all! While we specialize in trauma healing, our holistic approach benefits anyone seeking deeper self-awareness, healthier relationships, emotional regulation, or personal growth. Whether you're healing from trauma, navigating dating challenges, or working on anxious or avoidant attachment patterns, we're here to support you.

What is art therapy and do I need to be artistic?

Art therapy uses creative expression as a tool for healing and self-discovery. You absolutely do not need to be "good at art"—this isn't about creating masterpieces! It's about using colors, shapes, and materials to express feelings that might be hard to put into words. Many clients find it deeply healing and surprisingly accessible.

Do you offer couples or family therapy?

Yes! We offer couples and family therapy to help improve communication, heal relationship wounds, and create deeper connection. Our approach integrates attachment theory, somatic work, and practical communication skills.

Can you help with religious trauma?

Absolutely. Religious trauma is one of our specializations. We understand the complex layers of healing from harmful religious experiences—the shame, the identity confusion, the relationship ruptures. We provide a safe, non-judgmental space to process your experiences and reclaim your authentic self.

LOGISTICS & PRACTICAL DETAILS

Are your sessions virtual or in-person?

We are a virtual-only practice. All sessions are conducted online through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform. This allows you to receive therapy from the comfort and privacy of your own home, anywhere in Colorado.

What do I need for virtual sessions?

You'll need a reliable internet connection, a private space where you can talk freely, and a device with a camera and microphone (computer, tablet, or smartphone). We'll send you a link to join the session—no special software downloads required.

How long are therapy sessions?

Standard sessions are 50-60 minutes. Some modalities or intensive work may require longer sessions, which we'll discuss in advance.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Life happens! We ask for at least 24 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling. This allows us to offer your time slot to another client. Late cancellations (less than 24 hours) may be subject to a fee. We'll go over our full cancellation policy when you start therapy.

Can I switch therapists if needed?

Yes! We want you to feel comfortable and connected with your therapist. If the fit isn't right, we'll help you transition to another team member who might be a better match. Your healing is what matters most.

Do you prescribe medication?

Our therapists are licensed counselors and social workers, not psychiatrists, so we don't prescribe medication. However, we work collaboratively with psychiatric providers when needed and can provide referrals if medication might be helpful for you.

How often should I attend therapy?

Most clients start with weekly sessions to build momentum and create consistent change. As you progress, you might move to bi-weekly or monthly sessions. We'll work together to find the frequency that best supports your goals and schedule.

What happens in a crisis or between sessions?

If you're experiencing a mental health crisis, please call 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or go to your nearest emergency room. For non-emergency support between sessions, your therapist will discuss their availability and backup resources during your first meeting.
