About
Bethany completed her graduate training at Florida State University, where she received a degree in clinical social work. She has spent more than a decade working in different settings that include family medical centers, telehealth platforms, community behavioral health clinics, private practices, and residential settings. The majority of her work has been working with adults who have experienced depression, anxiety, mood dysregulation, addiction, trauma, grief/loss, confidence/self-worth issues, and phase of life issues. Her clients have given her the extraordinary compliment of feeling comfortable immediately, feeling fully supported to do the work of healing as a team, being the first person who felt safe enough to speak things they never felt brave enough to utter, and feeling brave enough to let go of what they no longer need and embrace a new version of themselves unencumbered by the protection of their past baggage.
Bethany believes the foundation of health needs to be built upon truth and transparency on both sides. She believes in creating a safe space where she can be fully authentic, which encourages authenticity in session. Bethany believes that in order to heal and become the best version of ourselves we must face who we are now; and acknowledge and accept where we are now to move forward and unravel the pain that rests in our body, heart, mind, and soul. Bethany believes in showing up and doing the work with each person she has the privilege to work with and believes that change is possible even when a lot of time has passed and the possibility of things being different seems impossible. She gives all she has every session offering an eclectic approach to treatment that ranges from EMDR, Cognitive models, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Gestalt, Narrative Therapy, and/or an amalgamation of approaches to reach the best possible outcome for each client.
Bethany’s deeply held Christian beliefs and own therapeutic work that has been done in partnership with her own therapist or on her own through extensive journaling helps Bethany to experience balance when the world feels “shaky”. Bethany has made a life-long commitment to pursuing health, healing, and wholeness, because she understands that life will throw us curve-balls and hardships throughout our journey that can either weaken or strengthen us based upon how we process those things. Our emotional wounds much like our physical wounds can be strengthened at the places where we have been scarred. If we treat these emotional wounds with care we will reach the other side of the pain we face stronger, in that particular area, than we were before.
Bethany spends her free time with her husband, four-year-old, and two-year old daughters. She feels at peace near water and when she looks at the expanse and greatness of an ocean it often helps her to put her problems into perspective. She also enjoys traveling, learning about new places and cultures, reading, writing, and singing. I’m honored to be a part of your journey and recognize the privilege it is to walk with you through your healing process.
