Trauma sensitive yoga therapy
Sara, our Registered Yoga Therapist's approach is to work with you to find a sense of power and control in your mind, body, and spirit. She works in Trauma Sensitive Yoga:
Yoga therapy is a powerful approach that allows healing from the inside out. Trauma sensitive yoga is a way to find healing for your mind, body and soul.
Trauma sensitive yoga is a gentle practice, that can be beneficial to anyone, regardless if you have a trauma history. It can be especially beneficial for those healing from PTSD, as well as survivors from abuse and domestic violence.
Trauma sensitive yoga is a practice that allows healing from the inside out. Trauma is stored internally, often deep within the body; waiting to be triggered by outside forces. We lose the ability to control and interact with the world, trapped by this internal force holding us back. Yoga is a safe way to release and overcome this negative energy stored from traumatic experiences. Grounding ourselves through a mind and body connection, we are able to live our lives to the fullest potential; unlocking the shackles of past trauma. In session you will enjoy movement, breathwork, meditation, and ritual.
Inspired by David Emerson of the Kripalu Center of Yoga and Health, this work will offer gentle yoga poses, breathwork, meditation, and empowerment of choice. This work supports you in reconnecting with your body, and empowering you to choose what feels right in the moment.
